Recently I met a beautiful cat in a small local botanical garden in my city. At first I thought she was looking wel so she must be living nearby. However I'm told that her previous owner dumped her and that she's now a stray. I've noticed she's getting skinnier and so I've been feeding her wet food (with added water) and kibble.

I was asked if I wanted to take her home with me and I definitely would, but atm I'm renovating my whole home so for the time being that's not a good idea. I live downtown and have no garden and also wouldn't like to let her outside with all the traffic and

people. I do have a fairly large home and my previous cat who I got from the shelter (she was nine when I got her and lived 11 years with me) had the largest bedroom all for herself.

As winter is approaching, I've built her a shelter that I'm allowed to place somewhere in the garden. I quickly build something from leftover wood and only need to sand it a bit and paint it. I'm thinking about putting in straw/hemp and a blanket. The caretakers of the garden are sympathetic to the cat and think it's a great idea to give her a shelter.

I would like to get some feedback on what you think would be the best course of action. Update: I just went back even tho the garden is closed. I opened a can of wet food and waited outside of the gate while calling her. I will return tomorrow morning with the carrier.. I really hope she doesn't mind me catnapping her!

I've placed the shelter I made in the kitchen with blankets. Placed bowls near it with kibble and mineral water. Opposite of the kitchen I placed the litter box. I've build a cat scratching post for my neighbour's cat because they couldn't afford one so I can do that again easily.

DrewOH816 The Cat Distribution System has found you! You should take her home and enjoy. See if she likes walks, on a leash, in a carrier and be happy. What a beautiful cat!!

MsMarionNYC The cat needs to be inside. Winter is a approaching and rennovations can take a long time. I can understand the noise the dust, the need to be locked away in a room, why this isn't the ideal situation for a cat, but I can see the cat's current situation as less than ideal

either. In your shoes, I would be looking for any friends or family who might be able to foster the cat for a couple of months. I'd also consider working with a local private shelter to see if they could sponser her for adoption through them while she's still at the shelter. I know you want the cat, but as it could be months, it might be better for the cat to find a home before winter.

FatSadHappy Take her inside. Cats fine with renovations, we renovated with shy indoor cat inside

humlebi Beautiful looking cat. Those rosette spots look like she's got some Bengal in her ancestry. As for advice: definitely do take her inside if you can. Inside cats are much safer and live longer lives.

Lightningdash3804 My parents renovated their kitchen and bathroom while having 3 cats, and it wasn't too difficult. They tended to keep themselves away from all the action because of the power tools and noise. You should be fine to bring her in.

Quilter27 Those pictures show she is already your cat! Take her home.

ShortySmooth Please please please take the kitty home. She loves you and if she was dumped, she already was an indoor cat and would likely adapt very well and quickly. Please please please - don't just build her a shelter, please

take her home with you so she doesn't get hurt, so she's got a loving home, so she's got YOU because it looks like she loves and trusts you already.

ShadowofaBlackW... Awww she chose you. Bring her inside, you can also try Feliway for a week to help her while renovating the house. At least this was useful to my cat in a similar situation. Best wishes.

Altaira9 I would just bring her inside, it's the safest bet. Even if you need to confine her to a room for a while, she'll be safer and happier with you than outside.

IGUT51 Picture 5 is priceless, this girl deserves a loving home.

An... I would invite her in regardless of my renovation status. That is one lovely kitty. You'll feel better if you do it.
